About

Hi friend! If you found me here, you’ve probably known me for a while, making you family or friend for certain. Whether you are a “real life” friend, or a “just as real” online friend, welcome to my happy corner of the internet. Snicklebee was my family’s name for me when I was a baby - and yes, there may have been a song made up to go along with it. The nickname still makes me laugh, so I’m sharing it with you all.

You won’t find any recipes here. I’ve shared thousands of recipes over the past 15 years on Barefeet in the Kitchen, Vegetable Recipes, and Chocolate with Grace. I promise that you can find something on one of those sites to satisfy pretty much any craving.

When I started thinking about creating a space just for my own musings and memories, it became a fun project that I kept circling back to in my thoughts. There are no SEO considerations here, no advertising or monetization concerns; this website isn’t part of my business. It is pure joy to write and share with you here.

Here on Snicklebee, I’ve gathered all of the personal posts I’ve written over the years. The truth is that blogging has changed a great deal over the years, and personal content like this is no longer deemed to be of any value online.

For me though? These posts represent some of my favorite memories I’ve shared and I don’t want to lose them as we all transform our business websites into whatever Google and the SEO world deems to be of value. I’m adding to them as frequently or infrequently as inspiration hits.

A few of my favorite posts:

In my Grandmother’s Kitchen

The Gift of Being Content

Because We Fell In Love with Ohio

In these Moments

Some of the posts on this site have been co-written with my siblings or my mom. Preserving our family memories this way has brought me a great deal of happiness through a season of life that’s had a lot of ups and downs.

Most importantly, I am a Christian and I share my faith openly here. My prayer is that anyone reading these posts will feel welcome and loved by the Jesus who loves us so much that he died for us.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9 ESV
