While we were in Canada, we spent a day at Montreal's Botanical Garden. We lingered for hours, wandering through the different gardens. The Japanese Garden, the First Nations Garden, the Chinese Garden, the Garden of Innovations, and the Shade Garden were some of our favorites.
We saw bonsai trees in the Japanese Garden that were hundreds of years old. I can only imagine the care that has been taken to help them flourish!
When Sean and I were dating, he gave me a tiny little bonsai tree. (Have I mentioned before just how black my thumb is?) Despite the best of our efforts, we couldn't save that cute little tree from its inevitable death. It's laughable now, the amount of time that we spent in a sad attempt to keep that tree alive. It was amazing to see so many varieties of bonsai on display in the garden!
Walking through the gardens was almost indescribably peaceful. There were quite a few people running and power walking through the garden; I'm now dreaming of living near a garden like this.
I sigh just to imagine being able to exercise in such a spectacular place every day. An annual membership to the garden would cost far less than my gym membership and to walk or run through these paths every day would be an amazing experience.
From entrance to exit, there is so much to see in Montreal's Botanical Garden. I would love to go back someday!
